<lom:langstring xml:lang="en">Ambience recording - Canteen

11th November 2019, Citypark Graz.
(A permission to record was approved by the Mensa management)

Microphone arrays:
- ESMA (ESMA8h4, 8 horizontal and 4 vertical channels)
- Zylia ZM-1

(for detailed array description see https://phaidra.kug.ac.at/view/o:104551)
Files:
2 segments (Mensa-1, Mensa-2).
For each recording a binaural rendered version (3rd-order) as well as an Ambisonics file (Zylia ZM-1) or the microphone signals (ESMA) are available.

Sound atmosphere: busy, high complexity of
sound sources, relatively high amount of people, high background noise level. The canteen at the campus of the Technical University Graz was chosen because it was possible
to place the array in a way no table conversations are recorded. It was positioned on the knee of the L-shaped room.

Sound sources:
— people chatting
— clattering of crockery
— coffee machine
— roller carriage passing by
— noise floor of refrigerator, deduction, stove,..

Recorded by Elisabeth Frauscher

This project was realised in collaboration between sonible GmbH and IEM </lom:langstring>
